The top row is above the home row. Your left hand reaches up for Q, W, E, R and T, and then comes back.
Each finger reaches straight up from its home key: little finger to Q, ring finger to W, middle finger to E, and index finger to R and T. E is the most used letter in English, so give it extra care.
After each key, the finger goes back to its home key. If you find that your whole hand moves up, slow down and reach with the fingers only.
Watch for this: The ring finger is weak for most people, so W is often typed with the wrong finger. Use the ring finger anyway.
